THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE ABORTION IS UNDER ATTACK! And yet polls continue to show majority support for every woman's right to choose. The ability to decide when and if to have children means abortion must be safe and legal. Full reproductive freedom also includes protection against sterilization abuse , safe and effective birth control, benefits for pregnant workers, accessibility to full childcare, and health services for all women, regardless of income. While we focus on abortion and reproductive freedom, we cannot ignore the tremendous reality of violence against women, in this city and in society generally. The murders of 12 black women in Boston earlier this year points to the particular ways women of color have experienced this violence. The violence of rape and murder exists side by side with the violence of not allowing women the right to decide when and if to have children. Across the country and here in Boston a broad coalition of religious, community, labor, student and women's organizations has planned a full week of activities.
