Boston Public Schools letter (1992)
“These services will work to address the underlying factors that lead youth to substance abuse and dropping out of school.”
This letter was written in support of IBA’s “Teen Empowerment Project,” which began in 1990. The primary goal of the project was to reduce the drop-out rate of Hispanic students through positive, culturally sensitive, and participatory academic and social programs. The project was implemented in the Edwards Middle School and Charlestown High School. From the Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción records.
