Café Teatro Presentan: Jolgorio de Villa Victoria flyer (1996)
In 1996, IBA launched the performance series, Café Teatro, to promote Puerto Rican and Latino arts. The music, theater, film, multimedia displays, poetry, and dance ranged from the traditional to the experimental. Participation of the local, national, and internationally renowned individuals and groups varied from single performances to long-term residencies. Most of Café Teatro’s presentations took place at the Jorge Hernández Cultural Center, but the series also sponsored activities in throughout Boston. The event advertised in this flyer, Jolgorio de Villa Victoria, was a holiday celebration with traditional and popular music from Puerto Rico and featured Los Pleneros del Coco, New England’s foremost Puerto Rican folklore ensemble.
