A promotional flyer soliciting donations for a planned video documenting the lives of overweight women. The video aimed to end negative treatment of overweight women and encourage body acceptance. It was produced independently by Sandy Dwyer and released by Boston Area Fat Liberation. From the Women’s Educational Center (Cambridge, Mass.) records.

"THROWING OUR WEIGHT AROUND" A Video About Fat Women's Lives FAT LIBERATION: • working to end the oppression of women based on size • exposing the myths around food, fat, weight, and health • struggling to end the medical malpractice of dieting and other dangerous weight loss procedures • encouraging fat women to love ourselves and value our strengths and capabilities ''THROWING OUR WEIGHT AROUND:' • an independent production by Sandy Dwyer, a fat activist who sees video as a tool to educate, promote discussion, and incite social change • produced in cooperation with Boston Area Fat Liberation and the Boston Community Access and Programming Foundation • an excellent educational tool for women's studies programs, health institutions, and consciousness raising groups • a positive, self-affirming examination of the lives of fat women -- at work, at play, and at home • will be cable cast on the Boston cable access channel and other cable channe Is around the country YOUR HELP IS NEEDED! This community based project is produced by volunteers. Projected costs to completion are around $6,000 including $2,500 for closed-captioning.
