Invitation to the State-Wide Hearings (1982)

This letter invited Boston’s African American business and community leaders to participate in hearings to identify issues of concern in the black community in order to make policy recommendations to Governor-elect Michael Dukakis. The hearings were held in 1982 by the “Warren Commission,” a political advocacy group led by Joseph D. Warren that worked to improve the social and economic conditions of African Americans. From the Joseph D. Warren papers.
