Creative Expressions

Gay liberation found a voice for expressing gay issues and lifestyles in publications, books, movies, music, and other forms of artistic and commercial expression by and for the gay and lesbian community. An influential and prominent fixture on the Boston scene is The Theater Offensive. Formed in Boston in 1989, the Theater Offensive aims “to form and present the diverse realities of queer lives in art so bold it breaks through personal isolation and political orthodoxy to help build an honest, progressive community.”
